I bought this phone for my 10yr old - he actually chose it himself as he liked the design and look.

Impressed at the ease of set up and the functions of this phone.

Ideal as a first phone

 "Extremely Poor Quality Phone" 2009-05-26
By Philip Dean (UK)
This is not worth the plastic its made from. It feels like its going to break as soon as you touch it. the volume is way too low to hear anyone. the signal is appalling. It likes to cut out completely with "emergency calls only" flashing every now and then meaning you have to restart the phone. The buttons are incredibly cheap and sometimes you have to press them a couple of times to respond. If, like me, you just want a simple phone with which you are able to text or phone people, then this isn't the phone for you. it doesn't do either satisfactorily. spend a little more and get a better phone.

By H. HANCOCK (NEW YORK)
The main "joy"stick button will stop working before long and you will damage your fingers and thumbs trying to force it to obey you desires. Apparently this is a fault that many users of this model have experienced. All the more infuruating because that button does EVERYTHING so the phone is very difficult to navigate without it.

Sorry for the gloomy review but anger ANGERRRRRRR

 "Joystick fault" 2007-02-28
By A. Townsley (Ayrshire)
This is my third Sony Ericsson phone; previously had T300, T610 and now the K750i.

All phones have been very impressive. Easy to use, menu layout, battery life, all of high standard. The camera on this phone is excellent. 2mp on a phone, with an Mp3 player - what more could you ask for?!

On the three mentioned phones, all have had a joystick as the main button. This lets the phone down. After a while this button wears away. Accessing the main menu is fine, the number keys cover for that but if you are playing a game or using T9 in a text it is very hard to move up, down, left or right. After having the other two models i expected it to happen with this phone, and i was right.

This fault aside the phone is a very good model, nice to look at, easy to use. I would recommend this phone but keep this in mind when purchasing.

This phone is brilliant. It has a great camera, great sound, and great looks. The radio, when using the handsfree, is crystal clear, and the buttons are no trouble whatsoever.

You should always remember to lock the keys when its in your pocket, as sometimes it scrolls through your adress book and has even called someone on one occasion. If you remembe to lock the keys, it will not be any problem.

The games are average, not brilliant, but average. The music maker thingy is very good, and very addictive, and the photo editing is quite good.

By Michael Lightfoot (UK)
I'm still waiting for Amazon to post the previous poor reviews I've posted on this phone - I find it odd that all the other reviews are "5 Star" when this phone is genuinely rubbish and posts have been ignored.

Buy a K600i instead as it's a good phone without all the badly performing Vodafone dross on it. If you happen to buy one of these go straight to the Sony Erickson site and download drivers that work properly as the Vodaphone disk has dodgy USB drivers on it.

The phone is also the size of a small car. It is not "ultra slim" as advertised.

"I NEVER write reviews, but...." 2006-02-12
By Chris Smith
I recieved this phone for free as part of Vodafone's student contract deals last year during the start of the major push towards Vodafone's 3G 'Live' services. I thought it looked quite smart and stylish and had a 1.3 Megapixel camera, nice big colour screen and all that jazz...and as there was an extremely limited choice of phones I opted for this one.

Now, being a student I have several main priorities for my moby. 1) Quick texting 2) Clear phone calls [and audible in bars/clubs!] 3) OK camera/video recording for capturing those 'special' (and by that I obviously mean 'drunken') moments 4) Must look OK and take the occasional beating/dropping. My phone however barely accomplishes any of the above.

Text messaging is horrible! Predictive texting becomes extremely annoying after a while. I'm used to having a 1-key shortcut to take me to a blank text from the main menu. No, not on this phone, you constantly need to choose between MMS and SMS, and why MMS is first in the menu is beyond me! The dictionary has lots of words missing, and for some reason words such as I'll have started becoming H'll. Very annoying. When you add a word it also insists on the added word starting with an upper case letter. The list is endless...

Phone calls also seem to be exremely quiet unless you get your ear in exactly the right position. The internet browser button always seems to get accidentally pressed in my pocket due to it's poor positioning on the side [which luckily is free on contract, I'm not sure about PAYT however...]. Also due to the continual required pusing of the joystick 'down' position to scroll through menus, phone book entries and texts including predictive text options and the lack of an alternative it now only works 50% of the time. This is the same on all of my friend's phones of similar model so is something you WILL have to live with. The charger also seems to refuse to charge the phone occasionally. Oh, and you may think it looks good at first, but you soon begin to think of it as a shiny black brick! You could obtain exactly the same shape yourself by taking a rectangular block of wood and eounding off the edges on the sides slightly with some sandpaper! Also, the 3G seems slightly over-rated at the minute. The phone is FAR too quiet to watch clips of TV on without headphones!!

It does have a few good points in fairness. The battery life is quite good (As long as you switch the 3G network off) and the camera is OK for taking party pictures and the odd video of friends doing stupid things. There are better 1.3 Megapixel cameras out there by far, but for cheesy snaps it does the job. PC sync is also relatively easy as far as most phones go. It also seems to be happy to be dropped occasionally without showing too much damage.

I had to give up my Nokia 6130i for this phone and would swap it back in an instant given the opportunity!!

I am being quite harsh here admittedly and it is an OK phone, but it is becoming more and more unreliable as the months go past and there are better phones out there for a similar price (*cough* Nokia 6130i *cough*)

I got this phone at christmas and I am extremely pleased with it. Photos are sharp and crisp using the 1.3 megapixel camera and are easily transfered to and from the phone. It is easy to use however 40 megabytes of memory is only adaquete and the option of a memory card is not available. All in all it is a great phone and I recommend it.

"Great for its time - still pretty good even now" 2008-03-14
By Mr. V. A. Reeves (Leeds, England)
I bought this in 2006 (for a lot more than it costs now, of course) and it's never let me down - except on memory.

It's compact(ish), the interface is easy to use, it looks good, and the camera is fantastic - especially for indoor shots (there's no flash but picture quality is still very good).

So, what are the pros and cons?

Pros:

- Simple to use

- Good battery life (like most Sony Ericssons)

- Good looks

- Great camera (for 1.3 Mp)

- Cheap (now!)

Cons:

- Only 28Mb memory which ISN'T expandable (no card slot)

- No good for mp3 use. If you're a phone 'n' player combo type of person then this isn't the kit for you

Overall, a decent moby.

Its very light weighted

its very quick on using the menu

Very loud if you wanna play music

Good ringtones

high quality camera

but the down sides:

not much memory space

battery last long only if it is on padlock all the time

when it is used for for a while, it get stop and starts freezing

skin is not changeable

overall:

it is a very good, handle phone

it is the best phone i have ever had

and that is the honest truth

I have been using the Nokia interface for 5 years and decided to try this Sony Ericsson K510i for a change.

Pros : Looks nice, Good screen, Reasonable Camera, Good battery life.

Cons : Interface is Counter intuative after using Nokia up to now.

Tiny fiddly buttons for big hands.

Loudspeaker is poor quality.

Little Memory(not upgradable)

I've had this phone for 5 weeks and have tried hard to get used to the interface software but found it a nightmare. After 5 weeks irritation i'm giving it away and buying another Nokia.

 "Small, Sleek, Sexy, Superb! :) The K510i :)" 2006-11-11
By M. Hall (UK)
I got this phone for christmas of 2006, and so far it has been a great little phone for me.

As you can expect from Sony Ericsson, the interface is very easy to use and is user friendly. All the menus are accesed using the 5way navigation joystick, which I have had no problems with.

The media player is of very high quality, despite only having 28MB built in memory, the phone's only downfall for me. But as I already have a 2GB MP3 player I am not going to replace it with a phone. The camera is of excellent quality, it is 1.3 megapixels and takes good high resolution images that are sharp and clear. The screen is easy to see in sunlight and is of a reasonable size, compared to some cheaper phones.

I still cannot believe the price of this phone though - everywhere you go you will find it at around £[...] - £[...], which to me is excellent value. Maybe the price would be more if you expand the memory but the 28MB is enough for me for a few mp3s and pictures. The included software is K510i PC Suite which works great and is easy to use. It often looks like Windows Explorer and is used using the drag and drop method - fantastic. A USB cable, charger, and headphone are included, but unfortunately there is only one earpiece :( But i am sure if you really wanted you could purchase some headset with 2 earpieces for stereo sound. The battery life is great, although you might discover that after playing a few songs it won't be long before you have to charge it again. But if it's just calling and texting you do, you shouldn't have to recharge the phone too often! The games included are MiniGolf and Quadapop, which I found to be very playable and I never got bored of them. And you can always download some more from the pc, with the usb cable. As well, you can download pictures, sounds, wallpapers, and themes to the phone from your pc which is very easy to use. So, as you can see I am a big fan of this phone. but does it have any downfalls? Well, the 28MB memory, might not please people, and they also may want a Walkman branded phone.

And SE have decided to make this phone with changable covers, not a good idea to me, as it makes the phone look cheap and tacky, plus once you have removed the covers you may discover that the screen becomes very dusty and will have to be cleaned regullary. But apart from that it's fantastic!!! Buy it and you will not be dissapointed!

 "Excellent - best phone I've owned!" 2009-12-16
By K. L. Wren (Herefordshire, UK)
As a Sony fan, I expected this phone to be good but it has surpassed all expectations.

I also own the W200i which is good but I've found myself using the camera more than I ever anticipated so it was time for an upgrade - and I haven't been disappointed. The camera is very good with far more features than I anticipated including auto focus, white balance, a panorama mode (even my still cameras don't offer this!), scene modes (eg landscape, beach/snow, twilight..), 4 photo resolutions, effects (eg sepia), spot metering, and a light with most of these also available in the video mode together with the ability to pause and resume filming a video. Post-production, the phone also offers a basic editing facility via Photo DJ whereby exposure can be corrected and red-eye removed.

The music player is similarly impressive with track recognition, good sound quality, a spatial stereo effect and equaliser - and yes, I really am describing a phone and not an MP3 player! Mobile TV is available and videos can be downloaded for playback. Naturally, there is a radio too and reception, using the antennae incorporated into the headset, is very good.

The phone will support up to 2GB M2 memory stick which will hold a large number of music tracks, photos and videos and a 256mb M2 memory stick is supplied (which also includes bonus ringtones, graphics and animated screensavers).

The organiser mode exceeds all expectations with a calender, no less than 5 alarms, calculator, timer, stopwatch and there's a handy LED light providing a useful torch.

I travel frequently and enjoy browsing maps. To my surprise, Sony have come up trumps once again by including Google Maps and a GPS location facility on the phone so wherever I am I can always access a map of any area and zoom in/out to the level of detail required, together with directions to another location and even traffic updates along the route - incredible!

Navigation throughout the mass of quality and useful features is both simple and logical with clear menu screens and a crystal clear display.

With all these features packed in a compact unit, it's almost possible to overlook the fact that the Sony K770i is actually a phone and, once again it excels. Internet browsing, email, predictive text messaging, video calls and even ordinary almost old fashioned voice telephone calls are available. Used as a phone, battery life is good, the sound is clear and bright and the phone simply cannot be faulted.

It's quite incredible that so much can be packed into such a small, neat, well-designed package but this is what Sony do best - and they've excelled themselves once again with the K770i. A highly recommended purchase.

"a nice looking phone with a few potential flaws" 2009-10-14
By Umran Afzal (UK)
Ok the phone looks stunning and all my friends seemed to like the look of this phone. However, there seems to be a few problems with my phone and I am not sure if is just my phone or all of them. The first is major. Sometimes when people are calling you, you don't even hear the phone ringing and I've had a few of my friends asking me why I was not picking up the phone. You don't even get a "missed call" notice. Before anyone asks, it was not on silent and the signal was good. The second is that now and again I get a "Emergency calls only" message on my phone even though the signal is good and I'm not sure why is does that but it means that you can't call any of your friends.

Overall its a nice looking phone but be prepared for a few potential problems.

The Sony Ericsson W200i mobile phone PAYG is a lightweight phone with a classic design, similar to its big brother, the high-end W810i. The Sony Ericsson W200i mobile phone PAYG has a neat keypad with good-sized keys, although it does use a joystick instead of a navigation key, which we would have preferred. The Sony Ericsson W200i mobile phone PAYG offers a lot for your money: a camera, a music player, an FM radio, Java games and expandable memory, and looks set to be a winner. The music player is based on the excellent Walkman player found in Sony Ericsson's top-of-the-range handsets, such as the W810i. This is a fully featured music player that can handle playlists and is very easy to use. It incorporates Sony Ericsson's MegaBassfeature that boosts the bass tones in your music. The audio quality is excellent, especially with the stereo headset supplied.  "Walkman slider phone SEW910i" 2008-07-09
By D. Norman (United Kingdom)
Sony Ericsson W910i

A neat little phone. Slim, elegant slider design. Despite this, it is nice to hold. The case made from user and touch friendly material. It seems much more robust than my first impression.

The sound quality, through the speaker is, like the phone, a little thin. Phone calls were ok though, but may need to up the sound a bit, if in a noisy enviroment. The walkman sound quality of songs, through a good pair of headphones, is stunning.

It has all the usual features, all easily obtained through a good inter face menu. The walkman playlist feature, combined with the SE software media manager is very user friendly. It takes only a few seconds to download a song from a CD, through the media manager on the computer, and from there it will download straight onto the phone. Selecting that song, to put in a playlist is hassle free. I found this much easier, and more enjoyable than on my previous SE phone.

A good sized screen, and a good idea is to purchase a screen protector.

One mention, is the selection of themes with this phone, far better quality than on any of the other phones I have owned. However if you are looking for free games, you will be dissapointed. The games slot is taken by a few one minute demos, from there you have to purchase the game.

So to sum up this is a terrific, slider, walkman phone, the whole presentation including the screen lay outs, and colour, is well designed and sophisticated. The camera function and picture quality is good. So, we come to the `however` word. However, I feel the key pad is the part of the phone, which could be better. At least the keys are a decent size. Not the little circle things, on some SE phones, although they may be pleasing to many users. But they seem a tad sticky. On depressing them, to type a text, there is never a clear sensation of the key pad having been firmly de-pressed. So I needed to check after each word if the correct keys, had in fact, been activated. It is only a small point, in a phone which I found to be very pleasing indeed. And I would and have, and still give it five stars and a plus.

The gimmick on the W910i - shake the phone to change a walkman track !

 "k770i" 2009-11-15
By L. Harrison (england)
i own a k770i and i've had it almost a year now. The phone is amazing despite a few scratches here and there it looks almost new. i give this phone 5/5 for eveything.

the only thing ihave noticed is the phone just shuts down after a while,i do not no if this is because it is getting older or not. but apart from that it's good.

i have used the camera alot more than i ever thought and it has worked wonder's a quick snap to remember those fun memorys.

a good phone for the older and younger generation. a must buy.

 "Excels in every way!" 2009-04-18
By K.
