this phone is the cream of the crop, however i think its camera could be better to match the oyher features. i still like my n73 for photos/video []

The K770i is available in several colours, Truffle Brown, Sandy Beige and Ultra Violet (groan) and much as brown rarely suited anything except for a sofa from the 1970's, it looks rather dapper on this CyberShot branded candybar-shaped handset. Flipping the phone over reveals the flash unit and a centrally mounted sliding panel which hides the camera lens, plus two gently pulsing blue-lit accents on the flanks - very swish - with the on-off and volume buttons mounted on the top and sides. Back at the front panel you instantly see the screen looks a little small, its 1.9" with a resolution of 240x320, an issue more to do with its higher-range brethren than anything else. Just don't think this makes it a dud as it's one of the clearest and easiest to read on the market.
Using the D-pad and centrally mounted select button to navigate the menus will feel familiar to Sony Ericsson veterans, as little has changed from other models. Really there was nothing to fix anyway as the operating system is smooth and speedy while all the icons are clearly labeled and intricate commands are able to be executed without resorting to checking the handbook. Considering this is a 3G phone, the dimensions and weight have been kept in check well, the K770i measures 105x47x14.5mm and tips the scales at 95grams, so keeping it in your pocket will not be an issue.
The CyberShot branding should have alerted you to the fact that this is a camera focused offering and as you would expect, it boasts a high quality 3.2MP camera complete with autofocus and the aforementioned LED flash. On the front of the phone a tiny camera lens for video calls can also be found. There are also plenty of tools for the keen mobile blogger for uploading pictures and enough editing features to fix all but the worst pictures. Aside from the camera fun, the K770i has an FM radio and a music player, but not Walkman branded, and a variety of office tools too.
The design of the K770i and its range of impressive, but not overly complicated, features should ensure it finds a home in many a pocket or handbag. In fact, little lets it down aside from the fact that above it in the range comes the excellent K850i which is a very tempting proposition - but if you would rather have some toys to play with, excellent call quality and peerless build without going over the top on both price and specs, the then K770i should suit you perfectly.

As a Sony fan, I expected this phone to be good but it has surpassed all expectations.
I also own the W200i which is good but I've found myself using the camera more than I ever anticipated so it was time for an upgrade - and I haven't been disappointed. The camera is very good with far more features than I anticipated including auto focus, white balance, a panorama mode (even my still cameras don't offer this!), scene modes (eg landscape, beach/snow, twilight..), 4 photo resolutions, effects (eg sepia), spot metering, and a light with most of these also available in the video mode together with the ability to pause and resume filming a video. Post-production, the phone also offers a basic editing facility via Photo DJ whereby exposure can be corrected and red-eye removed.
The music player is similarly impressive with track recognition, good sound quality, a spatial stereo effect and equaliser - and yes, I really am describing a phone and not an MP3 player! Mobile TV is available and videos can be downloaded for playback. Naturally, there is a radio too and reception, using the antennae incorporated into the headset, is very good.
The phone will support up to 2GB M2 memory stick which will hold a large number of music tracks, photos and videos and a 256mb M2 memory stick is supplied (which also includes bonus ringtones, graphics and animated screensavers).
The organiser mode exceeds all expectations with a calender, no less than 5 alarms, calculator, timer, stopwatch and there's a handy LED light providing a useful torch.
I travel frequently and enjoy browsing maps. To my surprise, Sony have come up trumps once again by including Google Maps and a GPS location facility on the phone so wherever I am I can always access a map of any area and zoom in/out to the level of detail required, together with directions to another location and even traffic updates along the route - incredible!
Navigation throughout the mass of quality and useful features is both simple and logical with clear menu screens and a crystal clear display.
With all these features packed in a compact unit, it's almost possible to overlook the fact that the Sony K770i is actually a phone and, once again it excels. Internet browsing, email, predictive text messaging, video calls and even ordinary almost old fashioned voice telephone calls are available. Used as a phone, battery life is good, the sound is clear and bright and the phone simply cannot be faulted.
It's quite incredible that so much can be packed into such a small, neat, well-designed package but this is what Sony do best - and they've excelled themselves once again with the K770i. A highly recommended purchase.

Small, light, beautifully designed, with every feature that's needed(decent camera, radio, 3G, music player) for me the K770i really is just about perfect. And it's so cheap!
Unless you need a super camera, or big touch screen, or have lots more money to spend on a mobile(err..iPhone), then I reckon this SonyEricsson fits the bill perfectly for most users. The brown colour of this version is pretty cool too, a pleasant change from the usual black or silver.
