This phone was great when i first got it, exciting to look at, good features, and new games compared to the old nokia model i was used to. The slightly different buttons used for texting took some getting used to, and using the button in the middle both to get to the menu and for shortcuts was hard at first, but useful for quick navigation. However, within a few months i started having problems. I kept getting dust inside the cover of my phone, so whenever i took photos it was really hard to see them with any decent quality, which was a bit of a let down as this was the main reason i bought the phone in the first place!
About the same time, i also noticed that the middle button started sticking - this got worse and worse, so now when i want to go to the menu, it sometimes takes me to one of the shortcuts, and what's especially annoying is trying to open a text message and it takes me down to the next one instead. Then i FINALLY get onto it, try and scroll down, and it starts calling the person who sent it to me!
All in all, good in short term, not worth it i believe in the long term.

Ok, rather than writing a review a day after i've bought the phone with everything being REALLY brilliant, i waited a while, i've had the phone since October 2004.
Now dont get me wrong, it really is a good phone, the camera is ok, nothing special, and the 3D games are impressive, the problem is the joystick. After a certain amount of time (like in the last few months) the joystick has completely stopped working, then maybe another day it works a little better, and now it just refuses to do pretty much anything.
Up until this problem i thought it was a good phone, however, as with my T310, the joystick has become an issue and all Orange say is that they will hav to send it away for 6 WEEKS to get it looked at, yeah right.
So, while it is a good phone in the short term, in the long run Sony's build quality is creeping back into question.

i mean come on the k500i
first no point of an mp3 it come probable maximun 1 song maximun. the whole mobile only has about 12mb they use 9 eash song =3mb the k700i you got 41mb fit to do 3/4/5 songs it has frames cool stuff but my advice is that if your a person tat doesen't care about an mp3 or memory buy it then.

this phone is like the "little brother" of the k700i. The k700i has a radio but the k500i doesn't, also, the k700i has a bigger screen. However the k500i is a great phone, it has a big screen, mp3 player, camera which can take short video recordings and 3D games!
